Briefly...

I studied at the University of Sussex (B.A. & M.A) and then the Australian National University (Ph.D).
My empirical research has almost exclusively been upon Mian speakers living in Telefomin District, Sandaun Province of Papua New Guinea.
I was employed at the ANU for most of my working life.
